Pedro's Quit Journey
PANEL 1: Pedro González, 48 years old, works as a long-distance truck driver. He has been smoking since he was 17 and currently smokes around 20 cigarettes a day, especially during stressful moments or when driving alone. He lives with his partner, who also smokes, and has a teenage daughter who stays with him on weekends. He hasn't had any serious illnesses, but lately, he notices that he gets tired easily, has had a couple of bronchitis episodes in the past year, and is worried about not being able to play soccer with his daughter like he used to. Pedro has tried to quit smoking twice on his own, without success. Today he has decided to go to his health center and formally ask for help. He feels motivated but also insecure. He is afraid of gaining weight, becoming irritable, or failing again.
