Dragon's Choice
Rock opera inspired by Jeff Wayne: soaring vocals, electric guitar, thunderous drums, bass, orchestra, and synths. A dragon chooses their rider; their bond is unbreakable as they learn to fly and fight to burn the necromancer’s army of the dead.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Ash in the air
Smoke on the dawn
I stand in the circle of stones
Every heartbeat
Hammers my ribs
The ground starts to shudder and groan
From the mountain’s throat
A river of light
Scales like shattered suns in the sky
He lands before me
Burning and bright
And looks through my borrowed life
[Chorus]
You chose me
Through the fire and the screaming sky
Set your shadow
Like armor on my fragile spine
Scale and skin
Blood and breath
We are one
We are one
‘Til death unthreads
Dragon and rider
Bond of flame against the dead
[Verse 2]
His voice in my skull
A wordless storm
Images of kingdoms undone
Bleached banners
Broken bone fields
Marching where the daylight won’t come
On the black horizon
A tangle of spears
Skulls singing spells in the dust
Necromancer’s laughter
Crawling like mold
Over all the names I trust
[Chorus]
You chose me
Through the fire and the screaming sky
Set your shadow
Like armor on my fragile spine
Scale and skin
Blood and breath
We are one
We are one
‘Til death unthreads
Dragon and rider
Bond of flame against the dead
[Bridge]
[Drums roll
Orchestra surges]
Up we climb
Through storm and bone
Learning how to turn and dive
Claw on gauntlet
Thought on thought
I lean
He falls
We rise
Over the dead
Their eyes like glass
He flares
I draw my blade
I see his fear
He feels my doubt
We burn them anyway (oh!)
[Chorus]
You chose me
Through the fire and the screaming sky
Set your shadow
Like armor on my fragile spine
Scale and skin
Blood and breath
We are one
We are one
‘Til death unthreads
Dragon and rider
Bond of flame against the dead
[Outro]
When the last spell breaks
And the bones fall still
We circle the silence
Alive
Your heart in my hands
My soul in your wings
We were made
We were made
To fly and fight
As one bright
Line of fire across the night
