March of the Blackened Dead
Epic rock opera inspired by Queen: soaring harmonies, distorted guitars, pipe organ, timpani, bass, and explosive drums. The dead rise under a necromancer’s command, while a brave young elf seeks the Golden Griffon to end the purge.
Lyrics
Intro]
[pipe organ swell
Distant choir]
Ash on the banners
Cracks in the throne
Shadows assemble
Answering bone
[Verse 1]
Moon like a cut on the sky
Pitch-black ravens drawing wide black rings
Graveyard gates swing aside
As the old spell sings
Skulls glow blue in the dark
Armor rattles
Iron teeth that grin
Every oath ever sworn
Pulled back in
[Chorus]
Raise
Raise
Rise again
Hear the necromancer counting ten
One breath stolen from the grave
Two hearts twisted into slaves
But I will stand
I will stand
With a broken
Burning hand
’Til the last black banner’s torn and driven
I ride for the Golden Griffon
[Verse 2]
Young elf blood in my veins
Bow on my back
Silver leaves in my hair (hey!)
Run past temples of glass
Where the statues stare
Echoes cling to my name
Old prophecies carved in shattered stone
“Child of thunder and ash
You are not alone”
[Chorus]
Raise
Raise
Rise again
Hear the necromancer counting ten
Three bones dancing in a chain
Four kings kneeling in the rain
But I will stand
I will stand
With a torn and trembling hand
’Til the last dark trumpet’s cracked and given
I ride for the Golden Griffon
[Bridge]
[pipe organ solo
Then half-time drums]
On the mountain of forgotten crowns
He waits
Cloaked in winter’s breath
Eyes like lanterns in a drowned-out town
Voice built from a thousand deaths
“Little arrow
Little flame
Turn back now
Lay down your claim”
(I won’t)
I draw the bow
Speak the name
[Chorus]
Rise
Rise
Rise again
Now the heavens thunder back at him
Five stars falling into line
Six wings tearing through his crime
I still stand
I still stand
Golden fire in my hand (oh!)
As his blackened circle cracks and’s riven
I fly with the Golden Griffon
[Outro]
[guitars and organ in unison
Choir]
Ash on the banners
Light through the throne
Dead find their slumber
I ride home
(Griffon, Griffon)
Wings of gold above the din
Let the darkness break and thin
(Griffon, Griffon)
Where the brave and fallen win
