Parrot on the Plank
A hilarious pirate tune with ukulele, concertina, fiddle, hand percussion, tuba, and chorus chants. Inspired by cheeky sailors, squawking parrots, treasure mishaps, and a bouncy, comedic shanty vibe.

Lyrics
The anchor’s stuck in a giant clamWe’re dining on pickles and salty hamThe map was drawn by a cross-eyed cookWho spilled the gravy on the Captain's bookThe compass points to a pile of junkThe cabin boy’s asleep in a laundry bunkAnd every time we try to set the sailWe accidentally catch a humpback whaleYo-ho-ho, we’re a total messSailing south-by-southeast-ish, I guessGold in the pockets, holes in the boatHow in the world are we still afloat?Yo-ho-ho, we’re a total messThe parrot’s learned how to swear in FrenchThere’s a funky smell on the rowing benchOld Peg-Leg Pete bought a left-foot shoeHe’s the smartest man in the whole dang crewWe found a chest on a sandy shoreBut lost the key in the grocery storeWe fought a kraken with a wooden spoonAnd sang a ballad to a dead raccoonYo-ho-ho, we’re a total messSailing south-by-southeast-ish, I guessGold in the pockets, holes in the boatHow in the world are we still afloat?Yo-ho-ho, we’re a total messAvast! Belay! Where’s the rum?The quartermaster’s sucking on his thumbWe’re looking for glory, we’re looking for lootBut I just found a spider in my bootYo-ho-ho, we’re a total messSailing south-by-southeast-ish, I guessGold in the pockets, holes in the boatHow in the world are we still afloat?Yo-ho-ho, we’re a total mess
