Lyrics
Intro]
[Choir
Low and distant]
Dum dum da-da-dum
Dum dum da-da-dum
[Verse 1]
Boots on bone-white ground
Ash in the elven sky
Banner made of shadows
Teeth that grin and never die
Onyx crowns are ringing
Like iron churchyard bells
He tastes the dust of kingdoms
On his tongue
It tastes like hell
[Pre-Chorus]
"Run
Little dreamer"
The dead hills croak his name
Every heartbeat
Is another spark they claim
[Chorus]
Where is the Golden Griffon?
Feathered flame against the storm
Lift me from this crawling midnight
Teach a frightened heart to roar
Where is the Golden Griffon?
Blazing halo
Shining sword
If I fall before I find you
Let my fear become the cord (that pulls you forth)
[Verse 2]
He sprints past broken statues
Eyes of stone that start to weep
Maps burned in the abbey
So he carves the route in sleep
River choked with helmets
Moonlight bruised in blackened mail
Every step a shattered promise
Every breath a fraying tale
[Pre-Chorus]
"Turn
Little coward"
The dead wind scrapes his ears
He stumbles
Then he straightens
Wears his trembling like a spear
[Chorus]
Where is the Golden Griffon?
Feathered flame against the storm
Lift me from this crawling midnight
Teach a frightened heart to roar
Where is the Golden Griffon?
Blazing halo
Shining sword
If I fall before I find you
Let my fear become the cord (that pulls you forth)
[Bridge]
[Choir and strings surging]
On the edge of the world
Where the last green clover burns
He finds a gilded feather
In a nest of shattered urns
Kneeling
Shaking
"Am I worthy of this sky?"
Then a golden shadow screams
Splits the dark and learns to fly (with him)
[Chorus]
I ride the Golden Griffon
Tearing open veil and storm
Talons rip the crawling midnight
Hear a broken heart now roar (hey!)
I ride the Golden Griffon
Wings of fire
Living sword
Every ghost that marched to claim us
Turns to dust beneath our storm
[Outro]
[Choir
Triumphant]
Dum dum da-da-dum
He has found the rising sun
Dum dum da-da-dum
Living hearts
Forever one
